School panel presidents demand freedom for Govt teachers.

Mangaluru:    At a programme of distribution of certificates of State-level essay competition, felicitation of achievers and an interaction session about the challenges before education by Karnataka Jnana Vijnana Samiti (KJVS) and other organisations at DIET in the City recently, Keddalike Government Higher Primary School Head Master Ramesh Naik said support of SDMC -School Development and Monitoring Committee, could make the work of a teacher a lot easier. Their demands were in the context of development of primary and secondary education.  The government should not recruit teachers on the basis of number of students, but they should consider  for the overall development of students.

Senior lecturer Ashok Kamath stressed on the thinking that people will fall on their knees for government jobs, but don’t want to admit their children to the government schools.   A large population is attracted to  English-medium schools or under pressure to admit their kids to such schools because of social impacts. Lack of support for Kannada-medium schools would be a cheating the future generations.

Karnataka Jnana Vijnana Samiti State Secretary E Basavaraj appealed to the government to appoint a second grade assistant and ’D’ group workers to every higher primary schools. It would help teachers to concentrate on the  teaching. The confidence among public about the government schools should grow, he said.

PADI Director Rennie D’Souza said one view of the Central government that children below 14 years can also work would create drop out rate in schools.  Knowledgeable people should fight against the decision. .

Certificates were distributed to the winners of State-level essay competitions. National awardee teacher Ramesh Naik and Suribail SDMC President S M Aboobakkar were felicitated.
