Udupi, Dec 20: The “Science Express,” an innovative science exhibition, housed in a train especially designed for the purpose, will be in Udupi from Dec 20 - 22.
According to a press release, the purpose of Science Express is to make the youth curious about scientific facts and to rejuvenate their interest in the subject. This innovative exhibition, which was launched in October 2007, has been displayed in 100 cities all over India. More than 35 lakh people, most of whom were students, learned about the latest scientific developments through the interactive tools and audio-visual exhibits in Science Express.
Science Express is especially designed for students above the age of 14. The exhibits are housed within an air-conditioned train comprising 14 compartments. The train has been specially constructed for the purpose by the Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala for the Department of Science and Technology. The Max Planck Society of Germany designed the exhibits.
The Science Express is available at Udupi Railway Station from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no entrance fee; however, mobile phones, cameras, water bottles, and bags are strictly forbidden.
