Udupi, Dec 8, 2015 : It is reported that a carcass suspected to be of a calf, was found in the plantation of a person at Kurkal village near Shankarpura coming under Shirva police station limits in Udupi taluk.
According to the police, some unidentified persons threw the carcass in the plantation of Prabhakar Sherigar between 9 p.m. on December 6 and 6 a.m. on December 7.
A case has been registered under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and Section 447 (criminal trespass) of Indian Penal Code and Sections 5,9,11 of Anti-Cow Slaughter Act and investigations were on, the police said.
Mild tension in the area was detected after the incident. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in the village as a precautionary measure.
Suman D.P., Assistant Superintendent of Police, stated that the two persons had been rounded up for questioning with regard to the case.
Three parties of District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police had been pressed into service in the village as a precautionary measure. The situation was completely peaceful, normal and under control.
