Udupi, Aug 06, 2016: The team was constituted in the aftermath of the tragedy that took place at Trasi on June 21, killed eight students, a Maruthi Omni van carrying the school children and a private bus were involved.
The 12-member team formed under the outgoing UDUPI SP Annamalai has submitted a report on the security of school-going children in Udupi to the District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj. The outgoing SP told media that the team worked on formulating the action plan ensuring the safety of the school children, especially during the transport and in schools. The strict guidelines were worked out for the vehicles carrying the school children.
The report has been submitted to the minister. The minister would initiate action.
The team, along with outgoing SP, comprised RTO B N Surendrappa, Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director Gracy Gonsalves, Principal of Little Rock School Brahmavar, Prof Mathew C Ninan, Government Model Higher Primary School, Vandse, Kollur, Headmistress Mohini Bai, Taximen Association Udupi district, general secretary Ramesh K Kotian, Udupi district Taxi and Maxicab Association Vice President Haridas Bhat, Native Organization Programme director, Premanand Kalmadi, child right activist Dinesh Hegde Ulepadi, Raghvendra from the Big Bazar auto stand, Udupi district Auto Drivers’ and Owners’ Association, executive president Suresh Ameen and Canara Bus Union member Krishnanada Chatra.
