Mangalore, Oct 9, 204: A press notification infiorms that SDM College of Business Management and SDM PG Centre for Management Studies and Research will organise a national-level seminar on “Measures for quality enhancement and sustenance in higher education” on October 9 and 10. The seminar is sponsored by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The conference is set to be inaugurated by Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa. The key note address will be delivered by Jain University Pro Chancellor Dr Sandeep Shastry. CII Institute of Quality principal counsellor and head of education excellence Dr A Senthil Kumaran will address the gathering while SDM College, Ujire Principal Dr Yashovarma will preside over the programme.
The seminar will include different sessions which are aimed to improve the overall quality of higher education. The inaugural session will see Dr A Senthil Kumaran speak on the topic “Measuring institutional effectiveness with data”. Following this will be a talk by Dr Manohara Pai M M, Associate Director - Innovation Centre and Professor, Department of Information and Comm. Tech, Manipal University, on “Pedagogical integration of ICT for quality enhancement.” The third session will be headed by Professor Jayaraj, former Dean, faculty of science and technology and former special officer QAC, Government of Karnataka who will be speaking on “Quality sustenance through internal quality assuarance mechanism.” Professor Raghunandan, retired Professor, SVS College, Bantwal will share his views on “Student empowerment through mentoring and reverse mentoring” during the fourth session.
The main objective of the seminar is to enhance the quality of education and to ensure sustenance in this quality. It aims to help those colleges which are affiliated to Mangalore University and are going for their third round of re-accreditation by the NAAC. The valedictory address is to be delivered by Collegiate Education Joint Director Prof Siddaramu. This seminar is expected to provide some know-how to colleges to upgrade their impact.
