Serial burgler caught, remanded to jail

Mangaluru July 16, 2016 : Reports indicate that police succeeded in arresting a notorious house thief; The arrested was identified as Rajesh Devadiga (35), resident of Yellur. He was arrested in various theft cases since 2013; he is a released convict.

Rajesh was moving around Mudarangadi in a suspicious manner; the police identified him and arrested him and on questioning he confessed to the crime. They also seized a bike from his possession. It is said that he had stolen from a house in Uchila and the CCTV footage recovered helped the police in identifying him.

He also broke into Sheikh Shahajahan’s house in Polya and stole Rs 21,000 worth gold jewelry and a mobile worth Rs 3,000. All the items stolen were recovered from Rajesh’s house. Theft cases at Santhur, Shirva and Uchila are still under investigation. Rajesh was produced before court and was remanded to judicial custody.
