Mangalore Today News Network

Sep 07, 2016: Speaking after inaugurating the 12th Onam celebrations held under the aegis of Mangalore Karayogam of the KNSS, Karnataka Nair Service Society, in Mangaluru, G Madhavan Nair, former chairman of ISRO, Indian Space Research Organisation, called upon his community members to join hands to work for the welfare of poor.
He said KNSS should take initiatives to help people below poverty line through its activities.

He went on to say speaking about caste and so in there, the fact is that there are organisations for all castes in the society. It is necessary for all of us to unite for a social cause. Caste does not divide society, but at the same time, it helps in empowering the weaker sections. He called upon the community members to dedicate themselves selflessly for the welfare of the society.

"The prosperity derived from the economic growth should reach the poor in the country too. It is possible when a percentage of earning is reserved for the welfare of the poor," Nair said. He emphasised that all Nair community organisations should be brought under one umbrella to work for the welfare of the community and society as a whole. Lauding MCC,  Mangaluru City Corporation for keeping the city clean, Nair said he was surprised and happy to see the way the city is being kept clean.
