Single woman alleges rape after giving birth - case booked

Mangaluru, Dec 07, 2015: Reports state the  city police have launched a massive hunt for an alleged rapist after an unwed woman gave birth at Lady Goshen Hospital. The woman (28) hailing from Bantwal gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Police from Vittla spoke to the woman after the doctors informed them; the woman told the police that she was raped by a man identified as Praveen Belthangady.

She said that Praveen had taken her to Uppinangady with the promise of giving her money and gold instead took her to a lodge and raped her. Later, he gave her Rs 100 and asked her to leave and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.  A case of sexual assault has been registered.
