Mangalore, Nov 29: St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, organized a Konkani symposium titled “Three Facets of Konkani Literature,” in the AV Room of the College on Nov 29, Sunday. Simultaneously, the convocation ceremony for students of Post Graduate Diploma in Konkani was organized.
Valerian D’Souza, Dolphy F Lobo, and Henry Mendonca presented papers on short stories, dramas, and poetry, respectively. Edwin J F D’Souza, the programme coordinator, made the welcome speech. Paul Moras, the compiler of “Konkani Chalvol,” “Jagaran,” and “Mogrem Karonn,” spoke on the history of Konkani language.
Twenty-three students who had successfully completed their Post Graduate Diploma in Konkani received their degree certificates in the presence of Fr Joseph Rodrigues SJ, the rector of St Aloysius College; Fr Swebert D’Silva SJ, the director of the Konkani Institute; and Prof Alban Castelino, the first executive director of the Konkani Institute.
