St Christopher’s Association to mark golden jubilee on August 6

Mangaluru, Aug 03, 2017: Addressing reporters at Patrika Bhawan on Wednesday, Association honorary president S Norohna said, valedictory programme of the golden jubilee celebrations of St Christopher’s Association, Mangaluru, will be held on August 6, Sunday.

 Thanksgiving Mass will be held at Rosario Cathedral at 8 am. Mangaluru Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will be the main celebrant.

A stage programme will be held at Don Bosco Hall, Balmatta Road, at 5.30 pm. Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will preside, MCC Mayor Kavita Sanil will inaugurate, Karnataka Circle Chief Postmaster General Charles Lobo will be chief guest, legislators J R Lobo and Ivan D’Souza will be guests of honour.

Norohna also narrated that  the association was started in 1967, with an aim of aiding the less privileged. Rev. Fred Periera and Congressman Blasius D’souza were the early leaders.  There are 1,700 members in the association today. The St Christopher’s Association has built a hostel for students from faraway places who are studying in Mangaluru. Programmes such as health check-up camp, donation of wheel chairs for the district Wenlock hospital were organised by the association. The association will build a bus stand, renovate the hostel and build a house for a less privileged family it was stated.
