Udupi, Mar 25, 2013 : A state-of-the-art mobile blood bank sanctioned by the Government to the Indian Red Cross Society, Bangalore chapter, arrived in Udupi on March 23, Saturday in order to sensitize the society on the significance of blood donation. The mobile blood bank was a gift in recognition of the increase in blood donation to 22,849 units.
The air conditioned bus is equipped with all the facilities and four people can donate blood simultaneously here.It requires one litre of diesel per four kms and has a medical officer, staff nurse, two attenders, three technicians, a driver and camp co-ordinator on board.
On its arrival in Udupi, the blood bank was welcomed by Udupi Deputy Commissioner MT Reju. An informative pamphlet on blood donation was also released. The vehicle proceeded to Kundapur on March 24, Sunday.
