Mangalore Today News Network

Sullia, Nov 9,2016: The Sullia police it is said, wrote to the Kerala high court registrar and Kasaragod court principal district judge seeking directions on the course of action to be taken against the Kasaragod magistrate who misbehaved with public and police earlier in the week.

Sullia police said the magistrate, against whom a case was registered after he allegedly assaulted and prevented police from doing their duty in an inebriated state at Sullia town, was allowed to go to Kerala on Sunday night. Police did a blood alcohol level test on him and the results are awaited.

According to the police, Unnikrishnan of Trissur, a magistrate at the JMFC Kasaragod, arrived in Sullia by bus from Subrahmanya and hired an autorickshaw. He said something in English to autodriver Aboobakker who didn’t understand him. The accused tried to assault the driver after the former persisted with instructions in English even though the latter asked him in Malayalam what exactly he wanted.

The frightened driver then drove to the police station where Unnikrishnan assaulted constables and later the sub-inspector. On learning the accused was a magistrate, he was taken to the Traveller’s Bungalow.
