Mangaluru, May 17, 2019: The DK police are set to enforce directions of the road safety committee of Supreme Court regarding suspension of driving licenses of those who violate traffic rules. The police have decided to take strict measures with the aim to curtail traffic rules violation.
Soon traffic rule violation will attract suspension of the driving license for three months. The action will be taken under Motor Vehicles Act 1988 section 19 and Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 rule 21 (both relating to suspension of license by licensing authority). A report in this connection will be submitted to the regional transport officer to mandatorily keep driving licenses under suspension for violation of traffic rules.
Action will be taken against driving at excessive speeds, transporting goods heavier than the permitted weight on goods vehicles, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speaking on mobile phones while driving, jumping the red signal light and other such violations, informs the district SP.
