Talapady, Dec 22, 2016: At a media meet, Talapady Nagarikara Hitarakshana Vedike has urged the district administration to provide better service roads to redress the problems faced by people because of works on making National Highway-66 four-lane from Nanthoor to Talapady.

Vedike president and former ZP member Vinay Nayak said on Dec 21, Wednesday that people of Talapady are deprived of better facilities. Authorities should give better service roads on both sides of the highway at Talapady to give access for local residents. Proper stormwater drains must also be provided on the NH. He sought a bus stand along with toilet facilities at Talapady check-post and exemption of toll for Talapady vehicles .

Nayak said people whose lands were acquired to widen the highway have not been recompensed and the same must be fulfilled at the earliest while land under Talapady GP along with a building needs to be acquired. The GP should be provided Rs 32 lakh as compensation and streetlights should be installed from Divyashree restaurant to Talapady stretch.  He said soil had been dumped into Talapady stream when the road widening works were undertaken. He said disilting work must be carried out at the earliest and suggested that a memorandum in this regard should be submitted by Talapady Nagarikara Hitarakshana Vedike to the MP and Deputy Commissioner.

Forum vice presidents Abdul Khader, Jayaram Shetty, Abbas Ucchil and general secretary A Siddik Talapady were also present.
