Teachers to be sensitised on kids disabilities

Mangaluru Apr 05, 2016: According to a press release issued by Manipal University, teachers from primary schools in Udyavara will attend the programme, which aims to improve their knowledge of learning disabilities in kids.  The department of occupational therapy, School of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS), in collaboration with the department of community medicine at Kasturba Medical College, will conduct a half-day ‘Teacher Sensitisation Programme’ at Rural Maternity and Child Welfare Home (RMCWH) at Udyavara, near Udupi, today Apr 5, Tuesday.

They will be taught to identify early signs and make referrals for specialist intervention. They will also be taught basic strategies to manage the child’s academic, behavioural and language-related issues.

This programme is an extension of project ASHA: An awareness program of Learning Disability, which was initiated in November 2015.
