Technology is to be tailored for welfare of people - ISRO Chair

Mangaluru, Nov 10, 2015 : A.S. Kiran Kumar, ISRO - Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation said that the main objective of technology was to make things safe and comfortable by solving problems ranging from simple to complex. He was speaking as the chief guest at the graduation day of SMV Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) at Bantakal in Udupi district. ISRO Chairman Kiran Kumar illustrated how technology could be used for the welfare of people with the achievements of ISRO. Engineering, according to him, was doing a task systematically using scientific principles.

The new generation engineers had the responsibility of carrying forward the legacy of great engineers, who made remarkable achievements in different branches of engineering.   Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal of SMVITM administered the oath to the graduates. Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swami of Sode Vadiraja Mutt and President of SSVM Education Trust, presided over the function and gave away the gold medals to toppers in various branches of engineering. Y.V.N. Krishnamurthy, Scientific Advisor, ISRO; Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director of the Institute, A. Ganesha, Dean (Academics), Raviprabha K., Student Welfare Officer, Shrinivasa Tantry, Vice President, SSVM Education Trust, and others were on the dais.
