Thieves burgle jewels worth Rs 4.5 lakhs from house at Moodubelle

Udupi, Feb 1, 2013 : Thieves who broke into the house of one  Violet Mendonca  at Moodubelle  on January 30, Wednesday night, have decamped with jewellery weighing  175 grams valued at Rs 4.5 lakhs.

In a complaint lodged with the police, Violet has stated that the theft took place when she was away.

The thieves had gained entry  by breaking open the main door and had escaped with jewels from the steel almirah and a wooden chest in the house.

It is suspected  that the theft was the handiwork of some people who might have kept a watch on the developments of the house owner.

Investigations are in progress.
