Mangalore, Feb 6, 2014: Thousands of enthusiasts are expected to converge in the city for the third edition Nitte Mangalore Half Marathon and 10 km run scheduled to be organised on February 23. The event will be held under the aegis of the Dakshina Kannada Athletics Association, Life is Calling Sports and Karnataka Athletics Association. Nitte University is the official sponsor of the event and Uday K Prabhu, Asian Games medalist and Dhyanchand Awardee will be the brand ambassador.
In the competitive category there will be 21 km half marathon, 10 km run, 3 km run for high school girls, and 5 km run for college boys and girls and high school boys.The non-competitive category will have a five km dream run/walk. The winners in the event will walk away with a total prize money of Rs 5.75 lakh. The winners in half marathon will win Rs 3 lakh, while winners in 10 km run will have prize money worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Finisher medals will be awarded to all finishers in the half marathon and 10-km run.
The top six finishers in the open category (16-45 years), top 3 finishers in senior category (46-60years) and veteran category (61years-above) will receive prizes.

The organisers are expecting participation of 8000 people this time as against 1500 and 6000 participants in the earlier two editions respectively.
