Three arrested in Dayanand Pai attack case

Bangalore Nov 1, 2012: Three persons, including a broadcasting engineer of a Kannada news channel, were arrested in connection with the attack on noted industrialist P Dayanand Pai here, a top police official said today.

A 9 mm pistol and 30 rounds were recovered from one of the accused, City Police Commissioner Jyotiprakash Mirji said.

Pai, a noted industrialist and member of board of management at BMS Institute of Technology besides the syndicate member of Mangalore and Manipal universities, was attacked allegedly by a local gangster over a property row on October 16.

Pai was being chauffeured towards the college from his office when the motorcycle-borne assailants rode up to his car and opened fire.

The 65-year-old, however, was not injured in the attack as his vehicle was bullet-proof.
