Karkala, Aug 04, 2014: In the first incident, a person was killed after he fell into Soorante River at Mala in Karkala on August 3, according to police, the deceased has been identified as Vittal Shetty, aged 55. The incident occurred when he was crossing the footbridge built across the river. A case has been registered in Karkala rural police station.

In second incident , an aged woman was killed after she slipped into the river at Halageri in Kambadakone in Byndoor on August 3. Police said the deceased, identified as Padmavathi, aged 62, slipped while picking coconuts in the river, that fell from her tree.

In  another incident the third one, a person died, after he accidentally slipped into Sumanavathi River at Bijur in Uppunda in Byndoor on Aug 3. The deceased, Kuppayya Kharvi, aged 56, was fishing in the river, when his leg got entangled in  the fishing net accidentally and he lost balance and drowned. A case has been registered in Byndoor station.
