Mangaluru, Oct 24, 2016: As the CM, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is firm on celebrating Tipu Jayanthi across state this year in spite of opposition, Bajarang Dal and Sangh Parivar have urged the state not to celebrate the jayanthi claiming that Tipu was anti-national and they did not want to see Madikeri like incident.
Addressing Bajarang Dal, regional convention, Surendra Kumar Jain, joint general secretary, VHP in a public meeting on Oct 23, Sunday questioned Siddaramaiah why Tipu’s Jayanthi was celebrated across Karnataka. "The day should be celebrated as death anniversary instead birth anniversary. He was anti-national not patriotic," he alleged. Further, he added that Islam forbids birthday celebrations, then why CM is imposing new rule on minority community, he questioned.
Jain said though history proves that Tipu was born on some other day, the state government fixed the celebration on November 10. "Go back to pages of history and know his exact date of birth," he pointed to the CM.
