Mangaluru, Dec 04, 2014: Two women drowned in two different incidents after accidentally slipping into lakes in the district.

According to the Uppinangady police, around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nalinakshi (20) died after she reportedly slipped into a lake near her house in Uruvalu village, Belthangady taluk.

The police added that she had been engaged and was to be married on January 18.

Earlier, at Halenarchi village, Puttur taluk, Lakshmi (55) died after slipping into a pond while attempting to collect drinking water at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
