Udupi Admin for feasibility report on widening Kalsanka Bridge

Udupi, Nov 20, 2015 : District administration has decided to obtain a feasibility report on the long-pending proposal to widen the Kalsanka Bridge at the Kalsanka Junction on the busy Udupi-Manipal Road here to facilitate smooth movement of traffic.  Heavy traffic movement on Kalsanka Junction which includes the Kalsanka Bridge here. The vehicular density is high during peak times, when people commute to an d from education, finance and healthcare institutions in Manipal.

A big bridge was built replacing a small bridge at Kalsanka Junction about six-and-a-half years ago. But the substantial increase in traffic has meant that even this bridge has to be widened. Four roads meet at the Kalsanka Junction. They are the four-lane Gundibail-Kaslank Road, the four-lane road going towards Udupi and Manipal, and the two-lane road coming from the Sri Krishna Mutt-Rajangana Park Lot.

All these roads meet on the Kalsanka Bridge and the vehicles struggle to turn. A lot of vehicles enter and leave Sri Krishna Mutt through this bridge.
