Udupi, Oct 3, 2014: Veteran Gandhian B Namadev Shenoy is of the view that Ghandhiji’s dream od India lies in rural areas is the key which supports the idea of decentralization paving the way for sustainable development. 

Delivering the special talk on ‘Gandhi through my vision’ here at Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations organised by District Information Department, the Gandhian said that Gandhi always epitomized the notion of simplicity and he preached that non-violence is the real form of love.

Shenoy said youth are the pillar of the country and they should take lead to make Mahatma’s preaching ever relevant. The great leader with  true virtue, always followed the concept of ‘Sarvodaya’. It is he who makes the world feel the worth of India even today and Mahatma will always remain relevant. Mahatma who envisioned the dream of independent India, remained firm over his stance and never compromised with extremist principles to attain freedom.  He and his ideologies should echo in every village across the world and the youth force of India should take up the cause. It is then only the nation will realize the true sense of ‘Swarajya’, he added.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake called upon the people to fight the social evils and make the society free from untouchability and discrimination.  Mahatma Gandhi always believed in oneness and he sacrificed himself for the cause. He stressed that the administrative set up should strive to ensure justice to the last man in the society.  The people should never think in terms of nation’s contribution to their growth, instead they should always think of their contribution to the progress of the nation, Sorake exhoted the large gathering present on the occasion.  .
