Udupi: PDO dismissed over financial irregularities

Udupi, Sept 30, 2023: A Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Belle Gram Panchayat has been dismissed from service over financial irregularities.

The Commissioner of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Commissionerate within the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has issued an immediate dismissal order in accordance with Rule No. 8 (viii) of the Karnataka State Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1957.

The investigation revealed that Sudhakar Shetty was involved in financial irregularities during his tenure as the PDO of Kukkundoor Gram Panchayat in Karkala, resulting in a financial loss of Rs 34.42 lakhs to the public treasury.

This action was taken in response to a comprehensive inquiry report submitted by the Executive Officer of Karkal Taluk Panchayat to the CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayat, confirming the allegations of misappropriation of public funds against Sudhakar Shetty. Therefore, the government dismissed Sudhakar Shetty from service.
