Udupi Urban Development Authority - UUDA, plans for computerised speeding up

Mangalore Today News Network

Udupi, May 9, 2015  : Soon  public  will be able to submit and track their applications for land conversion, no-objection certificates, single layout, change of zones and building permissions online, if everything goes as per the plan of the Udupi Urban Development Authority - UUDA.

The authority has already appointed a Mumbai-based agency to develop the required software for this purpose and it is expected to be operational in about two months.   In the run up to this,  the authority has started computerising all the land and other related documents for the last one month.

In the last one month, nearly 15 lakh pages of various documents have been scanned, coded and indexed here. Another 10 lakh pages would be scanned and coded in the next four to six weeks.

UUDA -  Udupi Urban Development Authority Commissioner D. Manjunathayya stated that documents are scanned and coded, it would make it easy to locate applicants who had lost their copies or misplaced them,  once the computerisation of these documents was completed, the software for accepting applications online would be installed. This would make the Udupi Urban Development Authority office here fully computerised.

The objective of online acceptance of applications is to maintain transparency, provide accessibility and clarity in the processing of applications. More important, the applicants will be able track their applications online.

Middlemen  :  The online acceptance of applications is also expected to put an end to the role of middlemen who take applications from people promising to get them processed soon.  It will eliminate the role of middlemen, who deliberately delay giving documents to the applicants and also fleece them. It will also help in faster processing of applications. said Janardhan Tonse, Chairman of UUDA.

To make the process foolproof, the UUDA  officials will take photocopies of either ration cards, voter IDs or Aadhaar cards from applicants along with their mobile numbers.  It will be able to send an SMS to inform the applicants that their documents had been processed or in case further documents are required.
