Udupi, Nov 15, 2012 : Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi Diocese, inaugurated the new block of St. Joseph’s Industrial Training Institute (SJITI) and Dr. Aloysius D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore Diocese, blessed the premises on Nov 15, Thursday.
Jasper D’Souza, principal of SJITI, presented the annual report and Shivappa M., principal of ITI Mangalore, launched the institute website.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shivappa congratulated the students for scoring 100% results in 2012 exams. Expressing his appreciation of SJITI, Mr. Shivappa said that the SJITI delivers topnotch education, which helps students achieve better academically. Speaking of the huge demand for technical students, he said that technical students will get jobs in reputed companies not only at home, but also abroad.
Dr. Gerald Lobo said that unemployment is the major problem facing our developing country. He suggested that ITI institutions must connect with industries to ensure jobs for their students as soon as they complete their technical education.
Dr. Aloysius P. D’Souza inaugurated the exhibition and said that the workshop began 130 years back to provide technical knowledge to poor students and make them employable. He congratulated the management for the work it does in molding students.
Fr. Eric Crasta, principal of St. Joseph College, was also present.
