Mangalore, May 1, 2012: Mumbai based Union Bank of India will open 59 ATMs and 30 branches in Karnataka this financial year, informed the Chairman and MD of Union Bank of India D. Sarkar, addressing a press meet held after the inauguration of the bank’s third regional office in Mangalore on Monday, April 30, 2012.
Further, he said that the bank would be launching its branches in Hassan, Mysore, Udupi, Chikmagalur, Bellary, and Shimoga as well as Gurupur, Mangalore, Kundapur, and Manipal.
The other two ROs being based in Belgaum and Bangalore, the Mangalore RO will cover 11 districts comprising 29 branches and handling business worth Rs. 991 crore. He also said that 10 more branches will be launched in these districts, each including three financial inclusion branches supervising 20 business correspondents and act as customer grievance redress points.
Today, Union Bank of India has 143 branches and 198 ATMs and its total business in the state is worth Rs. 12,543 crore. The bank is now catering to the banking needs of 54 villages and plans to cover 62 more villages the current year.
