Union shipping minister satisfied with progress of NMPT

Mangalore, Jan 15,2013: Union Minister for Shipping G.K. Vasan, visited NMPT on January 15, Tuesday and reviewed the overall performance of the Port and expressed his satisfaction over the same.

He was also happy with the traffic growth of 11. 52 per cent registered by the Port during the first 9 months of current fiscal year 2012-12. He held discussions with NMPT Chairman P Tamilvanan and other senior officers and commended the efforts put in by the Port in attracting cargo, railway, container and cruise traffic.

A press release from NMPT also stated that the minister has asked the Port Chairman to hold talks with the agencies concerned  with regard to the proposal to construct a fishing harbor at Kulai.
