Uppinangady shop catches fire

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Feb 04, 2015: A tent opposite a shop and an autorickshaw were damaged in an alleged case of arson reported in Uppinangady on Tuesday night.

The police said the fire broke out in the tent in Karaya, while the autorickshaw was used by the shop owner to transport goods. The fire and emergency services personnel were called to put off the fire.

On a complaint by the shop owner, the police are searching for the persons said to be behind the incident.

It was in Karaya that several people were injured following stone-throwing near a place of worship between a group returning from Virat Hindu Samagama held in Puttur on January 16 and another group. This led to arson of three shops and an attempt to stone a place of worship near Uppinangady.
