Mangalore, February 21: Hundreds of students from all over Karnataka participated in the annual meeting of the Vokkaliga Gowda Students’ Association (VGSA), which was held in a grand manner at Hotel Moti Mahal, Mangalore on Feb 21, Sunday. The Vokkaligas are an agricultural community of Mysore.
Thirthahalli MLA Kimmane Rathnakara inaugurated the event and expressed his admiration for the Vokkaliga community, which has contributed a great deal to the development of Karnataka. Announcing that the Vokkaliga community is a boon to Karnataka, he said that members of the community can be found serving the state as industrialists, politicians, educationists, and farmers. He urged the state government to provide benefits for economically backward Vokkaligas.
President of VGSA Amith B. E presided over the programme. Dr Shivakumar, the state award winner; Dharmesh, the industrialist; and other dignitaries were also present.
