Various organizations organize protests against resort attack

Mangalore, July 30, 2012: All colleges in the city did not support the bundh call issued by the All College Students’ Union on July 30, Monday as a mark of protest against the attack on students partying in Morning Mist Home Stay by moral police. 


The women’s wing of the Congress, under the leadership of President Mamatha Gatty, also organized a protest in front of the DC’s office, shouted slogans against the attack, and urged the police to take strict action against the accused. The police arrested 25 women’s wing members and took them to the police commissioner’s office.


The CPI(M) and the DYFI also organized a joint protest under the leadership of Muneer Katipalla and B. Madhava. The police arrested around 70 of them. CPI (M) leaders Sunil Kumar Bajal and Vasanth Achary were also present. 


The Student Federation of India (SFI), led by District SFI President Nithin Kumar also organized a protest and the police arrested around 50 of them. Jeevan Raj Kuttar, state joint secretary of the SFI, was also present. 


The police made the arrested input their address and contact numbers in the register book in the Mangalore Police Commissionerate and released them.
