Udupi, Jan 23, 2016: As per reports, Veterinary Doctors’ Association has alleged that Ravindra Hebbar, an officer of the Veterinary Centre near Brahmavar has been issuing invalid declaration certificates that have resulted in trafficking of cattle.
In Kundapur, such a certificate is issued only by the Assistant Director of the department; this has been made mandatory in a bid to prevent the trafficking cattle with the help of fake certificates; the issuing authority has to be a doctor with BV Sc. degree. This has not been followed in Brahmavar and the issuing authority at the veterinary centre holds a Master of Arts degree; he has been issuing fake certificates for the past several years, thus blatantly violating rules and guidelines.
In Udupi, several cows are being trafficked to slaughter houses due to this practice. The association claims that they have proof that Ravindra Hebbar issued invalid certificates. The association has given a written complaint to the Commissioner of Veterinary Department, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police and has urged them to take action against the accused.
