Video of Shenava’s derogatory speech missing, PC suspended

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 15: SP Dr. A S Rao suspended Police Constable Bhaskar of Konaje Police Station for his alleged inability to produce a video recording of an allegedly provocative speech delivered by Jagadish Shenava, an advocate who is also the secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

Reportedly, the VHP had organized a meeting near the Konaje Police Station to protest against Love Jihad. During this protest, Jagadish Shenava made a derogatory speech, in which he spoke about the necessity of teaching a lesson to Love Jihadis. The Kannur police had registered a case against Shenava; but so far, Shenava has not been arrested.

PC Bhaskar, who had done a video recording of the protest and the speech given, was ordered to produce the recording as evidence. He said that the event has not been recorded and therefore he could not produce the video clipping, for which he has been suspended.
