Vigilante group attacks youngsters at Ujire

Mangalore, Jan 9, 2013 : The moral policemen seem to have raised their ugly head again, this time in Ujire . A complaint lodged  at Belthangady police station says a group of around 15 persons  barged into an ice cream parlour in the town on January  8, Tuesday and assaulted four persons  including two minor girls and two youth who were having ice cream.

Sources said the assailants were affiliated to some Hindu organizations and the youngsters were targeted because the two youth were Muslims.  It is learnt, the two youth from Madikeri and the two girls, one hailing from Ujire and the other from Madikeri were relishing ice cream at around 5 pm when they were targeted. 

A complaint lodged in Belthangady police station by one of the girl victims said the assailants questioned why they were together and even slapped the boys and   abused them.
The two girls, it is said were students of a local college.
