Bangalore Feb 20: Public response to “Aptharakshaka,” the last film of Vishnuvardhan, was overwhelming when it was screened at 78 cinema theatres across Karnataka on Friday. The police and theatre personnel had to remain alert as large crowds of people arrived to watch this much-awaited movie.
The theatres witnessed long queues in front of their ticket counters; and all the tickets were sold by 10:30 a.m. The demand for tickets was exceptionally huge at places such as Mysore, Mandya, Mangalore, Hassan, Gulbarga, Madikeri, Chamarajanagar, Shimoga, Tumkur, and Chikamagalur. In Bangalore, there was an overwhelming request for advance booking.
Vishnuvardhan fans arrived at cinema theatres and worshipped his posters and cut outs with milk and tender coconut.
Fans also arrived from Madurai and Chennai to watch the movie. Krishna Prajjwal, the producer of the film, said that the film will be released in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu too in order to please Vishnuvardhan’s fan base in these states.
Fans did not mind paying up to Rs 700 for a ticket. Manjula and Chetan, who live in Gangammanagudi, said that they were waiting for this film so much that they did not mind paying a scalper Rs 700 for a ticket when they could not get the tickets.
“Aaptharakshaka” is a sequel to “Apthamithra,” a well-received movie of 2004. It is directed by P Vasu and is the 200th film of Vishnuvardha, who died of a cardiac arrest on Dec 30, 2009.
