Mangalore, August 4, 2014: The Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota, Mangalore and Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy will jointly host a World Festival of Tuluvas named ‘Vishwa Tuluvera Parba’ at Pilikula, Vamanjoor in the outskirts of the city in November this year.
Informing this to reporters here, Dharmapala U Devadiga, President of the Okkoota said the event is being organised to commemorate the silver jubilee of the Okkoota and will feature a variety of programmes including literary sessions, cultural and sports programmes and Food Festival.
Devadiga said the Kambala field in front of the Guttu House at Pilikula will be the venue of the event which aims at promoting Tulu language and culture and discuss vital issues pertaining to the field. The event will also press for the inclusion of the Tulu in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, he said.
Preparations would soon be initiated for the event scheduled to begin on November 28, he informed. Regional Committees have already been formed at Mysore, Puttur, Kadaba, Moodbidri, Mumbai and other places.
He further informed that the venue of the event will be readied in consultations with K Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation of Moodbidri. Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala will the Honorary President of the Organising Committee, Devadiga said.
