Mangaluru, Dec 16, 2015:  The one society that has a legacy of imparting quality education even before independence is the Puttur Education Society now renamed as Vivekananda Vidhyavardhaka Sangha. With 51 institutions in its fold, Vivekananda Vidhyavardhaka Sangha is set to complete its centenary year of existence and service to society on the educational front.

Started in a simple manner as a education centre in the year 1915, Vivekananda Vidhyavardhaka Sangha, is gearing up to celebrate 100 years of its journey, on January 12, 2016. Though in 1921, the school was handed over to the District Board, the centre continued its activities by way of encouraging people towards education, providing scholarships etc. The year 1965 saw this parent body rising into prominence with the establishment of Vivekananda PU and Degree College, and since then, it has only moved forward by leaps and bounds.

The objective of the sangha is towards holistic development in society by providing every learner with value-based education backed by strong adherence to the culture and spirituality even while the teaching / learning is kept abrest with the times, as well as simple and affordable.

More than 25,000 people are expected to take part in ’Virat Viveka Sangama’ as a part of centenary celebrations.
