Mangalore, Aug 8, 2012: The Mangalore branch of the Trinity Communications Centre of London will organize Save Earth Awareness Marathon in Mangalore on August 12, at 8:00 a.m. from Kadri Park to Mangala Stadium.
Manjunath, a member of Trinity Communications Centre, made the above announcement at a press conference held in Mangalore today.
Addressing the gathering, Bina Gonsalves, another member, said that the walkathon is being held with the purpose of creating awareness among the citizens of Mangalore about environmental issues. The theme of the walkathon is “save our Earth.” The proceeds will be used for the construction of a private electronic toilet for women, she added.
Speaking about electronic toilets, she said that several such toilets have been constructed in Kerala, and this toilet will be the first in Mangalore. It will be constructed in a high usage area such as a bus stand, she said.
Stating that this is the second such walkathon in Mangalore, she said that the previous walkathon had around 160 students taking part. She said that the organizers have approached around 30 – 40 schools this year so that more students can take part.
She also said that the organizing committee will hold the Annual Parents’ Day Awareness Program on August 11 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Agnes College Auditorium in Mangalore to spread this message.
