West Coast Express changes to superfast

Mangalore, May 15, 2014: Fourtrains passing through or commencing operation in Mangalore have been converted to superfast trains with effect from July, according to a release from Southern Railway. Consequently, the numbers of those trains will also change.

Train No 16627 Chennai Central-Mangalore Central West Coast Express train’s new number will be 22637 with effect from July 13 and Train No 16628 Mangalore Central Chennai Central West Coast Express train number will be 22638 from July 13.

The Train No 16309 Ernakulam Junction-Patna Junction bi-weekly express train which passes through Mangalore Junction will have the new number, 22643 from July 14. No 16310 Patna Junction–Ernakulam Junction be-weekly’s new number is 22644 with effect from July 17.

An express train or mail changing to Superfast also means increase in fare and cutting down of a few existing stoppages. This would probably invite the ire of commuters.
