Mangalore, May 15: Athough 23-year-old Rekha, a Christian girl, married Kishore Kumar as per the Hindu Marriage Act of 1995 on July 12, 2007, they cannot live together. Rekha told the media that she wants to live with her husband in a separate house, adding that she was willing to follow Hinduism.
The parents of Rekha and Kumar had agreed to solemnize their marriage at Kateel Shri Durgaparameshwari Temple on March 29, 2010. But the groom and his relatives did not turn up for the wedding as planned. Rekha, therefore, lodged a complaint at the Mangalore Rural Police Station, accusing Kumar and his relatives of cheating and dowry harrassment. In her FIR, she accused Kumar, his mother Sunitha, and their close relatives Kiran, Bhaskara, Rohi, Arathi, Chandravathi, Bharathi, Prema Kotian, and others of torturing her mentally and physically for a dowry of Rs 2 lakhs and 50 pawans of gold.
Unfortunately, the police have not yet arrested Kumar. Prakash, the SI of Mangalore Rural, said that they had tried to convince Kumar’s family to solve the issue, but now that a case of cheating and harrassment has been filed against him, the police will find Kumar and arrest him.
