Woman and 3 children die of drowning in Kundapur

Kundapur, Jul 2, 2012 : A woman and 3 children died of drowning in a large water tank in Hattiangadi, Kundapur on the evening of July 1, Sunday.

The deceased are Nayana (20), Naveen (13), Pavan (11), and Pavithra (16). They were all from construction workers’ families.

On the evening of Sunday, local people saw the four going toward the water tank, but did not say anything because they thought that they knew about the depth of the tank.

When the group did not return even after dark, local people rushed to the tank and saw their footwear by the side of the tank. Guessing that they might have drowned, they began searching for the bodies.

The local people saw Nayana’s body first. Later the fire fighting personnel arrived on the scene and found the other bodies.

According to local sources, Pavan and Naveen were studying in Kudlu Higher Primary School and Pavithra was studying in Kundapur Government College.
