Woman who tried to commit suicide in critical condition

Mangalore, Sept. 19, 2012: The young woman who had tried to commit suicide by jumping from the third floor of Krishna Complex on M G Road on September 17, Monday, is still in a critical condition. The Malaysian boy she fell on is now taking treatment in the ICU.

The woman, identified as Vandana Prabhu (31) of Jail Road, has been mentally ill for the past 3 years and taking treatment for the same.

According to reliable sources, she was getting ready to visit the dentist with her mother. However, before they could leave, she disappeared from the house, went straight to Krishna Complex and jumped from the third floor, falling on three Malaysian students who were walking below the building at that time. One of them, Mohammed Mushain Bin Monh Mashur of Penang in Malaysia who had arrived at Mangalore just a couple of months back to do his MBBS, is in a serious condition.

Mashur and his friends Mohammed Shafik bin Shaffa’ee of Sarawak in Malaysia, a student of I BDS, KMC and Miur Zainul Arif and Mohammed Nadzrin Shah of I MBBS, KMC were going to their hostel in Bejai from the gym when this happened. The four friends were walking on the road when the young woman fell on them. Mashur, who was injured in the neck, was immediately rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. Although the doctors have declared him out of danger, he is still not able to talk.

Shaffa’ee told reporters that the four of them are from Malaysia and studying in KMC, adding that they did not see the young woman jumping from the building and were shocked when she fell on them.
