Workshop on Rashtriya Swastya Bhima Yojana organized in DCs office

Mangalore, Dec 22: Krishan J Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, inaugurated a workshop on Rashtriya Swastya Bhima Yojana, jointly implemented by the central government and the state government, held in the DCs office. He said that the central government has released a sum of Rs 22 crore; and the state government has released a sum of Rs 5 crore for this scheme. 

Palemar said that the Rashtriya Swastya Bhima Yojana is to benefit around 42,000 families in the rural areas of DK. In future, the scheme might also include people below poverty line. He said that information regarding this scheme must reach all the people. 

MLA N Yogish Bhat presided over the event. He said that there are 1.10 lakh BPL families in DK. The Swastya Yojana, however, includes only 42,000 families. Compensation will be given to the rest of the families.

DC Ponnuraj spoke about the scheme. He said that the Rashtriya Swastya Bhima Yojana allows people to receive treatment in all government hospitals. In addition, 11 private hospitals have also registered for this scheme. 

The scheme will be implemented in stages. In the first stage, 42,000 families will be allowed to use the various facilities that come under this scheme. In the month of January, photo ID cards and smart cards will be distributed. 

Venkatesh Shindihatty, the assistant worker commissioner, gave the welcome speech. Santhosh Bhandary, the president of the Zilla Panchayat, and many others were also present.
