Mangalore, June 13: The first phase of the recruitment of forest guards was held at Karnataka Polytechnic Training Institute (KPT) on June 12, Saturday. A total of 247 candidates were present. A written test will be held for the candidates at St. Aloysius College Mangalore on June 13, Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Shetty told reporters that all the candidates underwent a physical fitness test on Saturday. The test required them to run from KPT to Bajpe and then back to KPT, which is a total distance of 40kms within 4 hours.
A total of 50 forest officials, including Conservator of Forests, Mangalore Circle, S. Shantappa; Kundapur Divisional Forest Officer O. Palayya; and Assistant Conservator of Forests Manjunath Shetty were present.
Shantappa said that there were 199 vacancies for the post of forest guard. The qualification required was SSLC. Forty-nine posts of forester were vacant, for which the qualification required is Pre University College with biology.
