Mangaluru, Jan 17, 2016 :  Speaking at a programme organised to give away Yenepoya Academic Excellence Award to meritorious students on Yenepoya University campus in Deralakatte; Local MLA J R Lobo called upon students to aim high both in education, career and ethics.

Lobo said, "It is a challenging and competitive era. This applies to education as well. Today,every educational institution strives to excel in education and meet the quality standards. In this competitive field, each student should aim high both in education and career as well as ethics. Therefore, they should utilise every opportunity they come across during their education to excel in their lives,"

The academic excellence awards were presented to a total of 255 students who excelled in SSLC, second PUC and degree examinations and 19 educational institutions for achieving cent per cent results. The meritorious children of the employees of Yenepoya Group were also awarded. Besides this, 32 students who were chosen for free seats based on merit in MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing and Bachelor of Physiotherapy courses offered under Yenepoya University too were felicitated.

Yenepoya Foundation Chairman Y Mohammed Kunhi, who presided over the programme, said the trust has been spending Rs 11 lakh for felicitating 300 meritorious students every year. Five seats each in medical, physiotherapy, dental and nursing courses are provided on basis of reservation and sports quota, free of cost to the students and the college bears an amount of Rs 4.18 crore for this cause, he added.

MUDA Chairman Ibrahim Kodijal was the guest of honour. Yenepoya University Chancellor Y Abdulla Kunhi, Vice Chancellor Dr M Vijayakumar and IAE Chairman Prof PCM Kunhi were present.
