Yoga team from Ujire to teach Yoga to Americans

Mangalore, Nov 3, 2012: A Yoga team from Ujire in DK will fly to the US to teach Yoga to Americans. The team, which comprises 30 people from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Naturopathy and Yogic Science, will conduct classes for 4000 employees of Quantum Logistics Private Limited (QLPL), an US shipping company. The training sessions will be held in New Jersey and Washington. The team, which comprises 2 teachers and 28 PG students, will leave on Nov 24 under the leadership of Mr. Prashanth Shetty, principal of SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.

Launched in 1989, the college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and was the first college of its kind to start a 3-year PG course in naturopathy and yogic sciences in the country. It has students from South Africa, Nepal, and India.

Mr. Shetty said that QLPL had realized that Yoga is an excellent solution to reduce stress among its employees. The director of QLPL visited the college and signed an agreement because she was impressed with the Yoga sessions conducted in the college.

B. Seetharama Tholpadithaya, secretary of Shanthivana Trust; Shashikanth Jain, director of Yoga and Moral Education Scheme; and Shivaprasad Shetty, dean of the Yoga department, will also go with the team.
