Young woman commits suicide because lover refused to marry her

Mangalore, Sept. 16, 2012: A young woman committed suicide by jumping into the sea because her lover allegedly refused to marry her.

The deceased Sushma Shetty (23) of Kodikal went to Sathya Sai Mandir near Lady Hill on Thursday morning and never returned home. Her worried family members registered a missing person case at the Urwa Police Station.

Her body was found on Panambur Beach on September 15, Saturday.

Sushma, daughter of Kamalaksha and Geetha, worked in the City Hospital Medical Store. Reportedly, she was in love with Dr. Bharath, who works in City Hospital and owns a dispensary in Suratkal. Dr. Bharath had told her that he did not want to marry her because he was not sure about her character. Sushma is believed to have committed suicide because she was hurt by his rejection.

The Urwa police have registered a case.
