Mangaluru, Jan 01, 2019 : Youth Red Cross (YRC) volunteers should promote humanitarian values and develop respect for other human beings, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Dakshina Kannada unit Honorary Secretary S A Prabhakar Sharma said. He was addressing the volunteers during the valedictory of four-day YRC Special Annual Camp organised at Dr P Dayananda Pai – P Sathisha Pai Government First Grade College in Car Street.
Environmentalists Dinesh Holla and YRC Camp Convener Ashwin Kumar urged students to utilise the benefits of the camp.
Dr Mahesh K B, coordinator of YRC, thanked the volunteers and programme officers for their support to the camp. YRC Coordinators Prof Manibushan D’Souza and Prof Nayana Kumari were present on the occasion.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof P S Yadapadithaya said Red Cross Society, the NSS, the NCC, and the Scouts and Guides should guide students in moulding themselves as model citizens, these organisations have contributed to the society and should help keep students away from bad habits.
He was addressing the gathering at the consultative meeting of the principals as a part of the Youth Red Cross training programme at the University College, Mangaluru, recently.
Prof Yadapadithaya also said that students should think beyond the syllabus.
Collegiate Education Joint Director Dr S B Appaji Gowda opined that the Red Cross is needed to develop a service-oriented mindset among students.
State Youth Red Cross former Adviser Dr H S Suresh, Red Cross officer Yathish Baikampady, senior advisor Prabhakara Sharma and College Principal Dr Uday Kumar M A also spoke on increasing the scope of the Red Cross at different levels.
