Stop discriminating among flood victims: former MLA Bava

Mangaluru, Aug 03, 2019: Former MLA B A Mohiyuddin Bava has urged the government to stop discrimination while disbursing compensation to flood victims.

He said that many people in Kuluru, Panjimogaru and Bangrakuluru had met him and had complained about the government’s discriminating attitude in disbursing compensation.

Though many houses were damaged due to rain, only a few were compensated, many had been deprived of what was due to them.

Bava said he had led a delegation of the flood-affected people, along with the leaders of Panamburu Mogaveera Sabha, to DK DC S Sasikanth Senthil. The DC had promised to order the Revenue officials on conducting a spot inspection, he said.

Bava observed that the protective walls to prevent sea erosion were built at select places near Surathkal. A comprehensive approach is needed to prevent sea erosion in these areas, he said.
